What we do

Automata Technologies creates state-of-the-art computer and robotic solutions. Our strength is in ingenious problem solving that abstracts the underlying complexity from the user. Our expertise includes data acquisition and laboratory automation, computer vision, mobile robotics and unmanned vehicles.

Where we've been

Automata was founded in spring 2000 at Waterloo (Ontario, Canada) in the heart of the University of Waterloo campus, a nexus of engineering resources that was ideal for a technology startup.

Our first customer was Ford Scientific Research Laboratories, the research branch of the Ford Motor Company located in Dearborn, Michigan, USA. Automata's custom Linux-based high performance data acquisition and control equipment was installed at Dearborn and at the University of Waterloo's Fatigue Lab.

In 2001, we relocated to just a few steps away from the University of Toronto in Metropolitan Toronto (Ontario, Canada).
